Although it seems to be the same, lip sores (herpes labialis) and mouth (thrush) are totally different and it is important they could be identified.


    

Mouth sores or canker sores are characterized by a blister that has a grayish yellow or white center with a red border well defined. Its origin is unknown and not contagious. Usually measured three to five millimeters in diameter (like a pencil eraser) and appear on the inner surface of the lips or cheeks.

The sore begins as several blistering sores that eventually form a larger wound. They are caused by herpes simplex virus I, can occur at any age and are highly contagious. Thanks for the list of remedies. Last summer, we had those terrible mouth sores. We used remedy #4. Pyralvex, an over-the-counter medicine was also helpful in treating the sores.

Great list. I discovered the powdered hot mustard remedy by accident at a meal a few hours before and looked on the web to see if anybody else had. You've got one of the best sites for canker sores. Congrats.
